Ordering a ride in Lyon
Boojey isn’t ordered from an app: every ride leaves from a partner venue. Three steps.
Scan the venue’s QR code
It’s displayed at the front desk, the bar or the cloakroom. The page opens in your browser, nothing to install.
Say where you’re going
Destination, first name and phone. Up to 10 stops, a van if you’re more than 4, and options such as a child seat. The estimated price shows before you confirm.
Follow your driver
First name, vehicle and plate appear as soon as a driver accepts; you can call them. If they miss their arrival deadline, the ride goes to another driver.
Rider, driver, venue: who pays what
| Pays | Gets | When | |
|---|---|---|---|
| The rider | The fare, directly to the driver | A vetted driver, live tracking and a PDF ride receipt | During the ride, in cash or by card |
| The driver | 10% commission, taken from their wallet | The fare, paid by the rider | Commission is charged when they confirm the rider is on board |
| The venue | Nothing | 5% of every ride that leaves from it | Stripe transfer on the 1st of the month |
The venue’s 5% comes out of the commission: the rider pays nothing extra.

Private hire in Lyon: frequently asked questions
Do I need to download an app?
No. Riders order from the browser after scanning the venue’s QR code. Drivers and venues install Boojey from the browser, without an app store.
What is the difference between a VTC and a private driver?
Hardly any: VTC is the French term for private hire (“voiture de transport avec chauffeur”). It’s a driver you order, not a taxi you hail in the street. On Boojey, every driver holds a professional VTC or taxi card, reviewed by our team before activation.
How do I pay the driver: cash or card?
Directly to the driver, in cash or by card. Boojey doesn’t collect the fare and never asks riders for payment details.
How much does a ride cost?
The estimated price shows before you order. It depends on distance and duration; a higher night rate applies at night.
What if no driver accepts?
The request goes to drivers within 5 km for up to 2 minutes. If nobody accepts, you’re invited to search again.
How does a venue join?
Sign up for free, have your SIRET verified, then print your QR code. You earn 5% of every ride that leaves from your venue.
Can I book a ride to Lyon–Saint-Exupéry airport?
Yes, you can go anywhere: the airport, Part-Dieu station, another Lyon neighbourhood or a nearby city such as Geneva or Annecy. The estimated price shows before you order.
Can more than 4 people or a child ride?
Yes. When ordering, ask for a van if you are more than 4 passengers, and add options such as a baby seat. One ride can include up to 10 stops.
Do riders get a receipt?
Yes: a PDF ride voucher you can download and share, with the fare.
See a Boojey QR at the desk? Scan it.
And if you run the desk, or drive, join the Lyon network.
